About Family Verses

Family Verses helps families find, read, and remember Scripture. Our pages contain only Bible text, organized by topic and by chapter. We do not publish devotionals, sermons, or our own interpretations.

Translations & credits

King James Version (KJV), 1769 standardized text. Public domain in the United States. (In the United Kingdom, printing rights are held under Crown letters patent.) Text from the eBible.org / CrossWire edition. Words shown in italics are words the KJV translators supplied for readability, as printed in traditional KJV Bibles.

World English Bible (WEB), 2020 stable text, from eBible.org. The WEB is in the public domain. “World English Bible” is a trademark of eBible.org; we quote the text unchanged.

How verses are chosen

Every topic list is checked against the community-ranked lists of the OpenBible.info Topical Bible (Creative Commons Attribution); we use their verse references only, never their translation text.

• 50 core topics: we start from widely cited verses and keep only those that also appear in OpenBible.info’s list for the topic.
• 181 more topics: the most “helpful”-voted short passages (up to 5 verses) from OpenBible.info’s list for the topic, screened to remove off-topic results.

Verse text is then pulled word for word from the KJV and WEB files. Always read a verse in its context — every verse links to its full chapter.
