1Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish’s belly,WEBThen Jonah prayed to Yahweh, his God, out of the fish’s belly.

2And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.WEBHe said, “I called because of my affliction to Yahweh. He answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol I cried. You heard my voice.

3For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.WEBFor you threw me into the depths, in the heart of the seas. The flood was all around me. All your waves and your billows passed over me.

4Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.WEBI said, ‘I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.’

5The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.WEBThe waters surrounded me, even to the soul. The deep was around me. The weeds were wrapped around my head.

6I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.WEBI went down to the bottoms of the mountains. The earth barred me in forever; yet you have brought my life up from the pit, Yahweh my God.

7When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.WEB“When my soul fainted within me, I remembered Yahweh. My prayer came in to you, into your holy temple.

8They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.WEBThose who regard vain idols forsake their own mercy.

9But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.WEBBut I will sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving. I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation belongs to Yahweh.”

10And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.WEBThen Yahweh spoke to the fish, and it vomited out Jonah on the dry land.
