Psalm 60
1To the chief Musician upon Shushan-eduth, Michtam of David, to teach; when he strove with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, when Joab returned, and smote of Edom in the valley of salt twelve thousand. O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again. WEBFor the Chief Musician. God, you have rejected us. You have broken us down. You have been angry. Restore us, again.
2Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh. WEBYou have made the land tremble. You have torn it. Mend its fractures, for it quakes.
3Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment. WEBYou have shown your people hard things. You have made us drink the wine that makes us stagger.
4Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah. WEBYou have given a banner to those who fear you, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.
5That thy beloved may be delivered; save with thy right hand, and hear me. WEBSo that your beloved may be delivered, save with your right hand, and answer us.
6God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth. WEBGod has spoken from his sanctuary: “I will triumph. I will divide Shechem, and measure out the valley of Succoth.
7Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver; WEBGilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine. Ephraim also is the defense of my head. Judah is my scepter.
8Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me. WEBMoab is my wash basin. I will throw my sandal on Edom. I shout in triumph over Philistia.”
9Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom? WEBWho will bring me into the strong city? Who has led me to Edom?
10Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off? and thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies? WEBHaven’t you, God, rejected us? You don’t go out with our armies, God.
11Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man. WEBGive us help against the adversary, for the help of man is vain.
12Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies. WEBThrough God we will do valiantly, for it is he who will tread down our adversaries.
